Army Veterans
Mesothelioma in Army veterans is a medical problem of tremendous concern. Up until the 1980s, practically every facility used by the Army, from the lowliest barracks to the Pentagon itself, made use of asbestos in its construction. From wiring, boilers, ductwork, wall, ceiling, and floor insulation, Army buildings were saturated with asbestos, making exposure to asbestos a practical certainty for soldiers working on or in these facilities.
Barracks, shops, loading docks, supply stores, mess halls, drill halls, quarters, base housing, amenities, hangars, power plants, and numerous other facilities – all were shot through with asbestos-wrapped electrical wiring, asbestos-cement siding, and asbestos-laden shingles, and many other asbestos-laden materials.
And the total scope of Army asbestos exposure does not even include the asbestos used in vehicle parts, aircraft, packing materials, and in many weapons systems themselves.
If you are an Army veteran who served during any period prior to 1980 and later developed mesothelioma, you were almost certainly exposed to asbestos during your service. Mesothelioma in Army veterans represents negligence by responsible authority.
